Properties and Benefits of Oak Wood
Oak wood is characterized by its high energy value, which is higher than that of other hardwoods. This means that, for the same amount of fuel, it provides more heat compared to other woods. Depending on the type and age of the oak wood, the energy value can range approximately between 13 and 15 MJ/Kg. Therefore, oak wood can be considered the most efficient choice for heating among woods.
Oak is a durable and long-lasting material, meaning that with proper storage, oak wood will last longer than other types of wood. Properly stored, oak wood can last for several decades without significant loss of its properties. Oak wood burns slowly and evenly, ensuring long-lasting and efficient heating without large temperature fluctuations. This helps maintain a comfortable room temperature when heating with wood and reduces energy consumption. The stable and long-lasting burning is also a significant advantage when heating overnight.
Oak wood, like other woods, is a renewable and sustainable energy source, which reduces its environmental impact while providing clean and efficient heating. Oak is also considered a carbon sink, meaning it absorbs more carbon dioxide during its growth than it emits when burned.

Heating and Storing Oak Wood
If you want your heating to be as efficient as possible, heating with oak wood is the right choice. We supply oak wood split, so you won’t have to worry about further processing. For optimal heating performance, you can combine oak wood with other types of hardwood. This allows you to take advantage of each type of wood and achieve the highest efficiency in heating. Oak wood can be used in stoves, fireplaces, or heaters.
For effective heating and burning, proper storage of oak wood is important. Store the wood in a dry location, ideally under a roof or in a covered outdoor space with adequate ventilation to prevent moisture and mold. You can also cover it with a tarp to prevent it from getting wet.
Before use, oak wood needs to be properly dried. Drying the wood takes about 1-2 years, during which the moisture content should drop below 20%. Only then does oak reach its optimal energy value and is ready for effective burning. It is also important to ensure good ventilation during drying to prevent wood rot.
Oak wood is an excellent choice for those seeking long-lasting and efficient solid fuel for stoves and fireplaces. Its high energy value, durability, and ecological friendliness make oak wood an ideal heat source for your home. Remember the tips provided above to ensure optimal performance and long life of your oak wood. Enjoy the comfort and energy savings offered by this quality solid fuel.
